Artificial Intelligence Policy

1. Purpose

This policy outlines the ethical, professional, and operational framework for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools at AnchorPoint Legal Partners PLLC (AnchorPoint). It ensures compliance with professional standards, safeguards client confidentiality and promotes the responsible and effective use of AI technologies.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all attorneys, staff and contractors working with AnchorPoint who use AI tools in any capacity related to AnchorPoint’s operations.

3. Principles for AI Use

3.1 Ethical Standards

  • Human Oversight: Legal work product that includes outputs from AI tools must be reviewed by qualified legal professionals to ensure accuracy and adherence to legal standards.

  • Transparency: AnchorPoint will disclose to clients when AI tools are used, in any materially manner, in delivering legal services.

  • Avoiding Bias: AnchorPoint will assess and monitor AI tools to minimize the risk of biased or discriminatory outcomes.

3.2 Confidentiality and Data Protection

  • Client Data Security: AI tools used by AnchorPoint must comply with industry standards for data security and encryption.

  • Privacy Compliance: AI tools must adhere to applicable data privacy regulations.

  • Prohibited Actions: AnchorPoint will not use AI tools that share or sell client data without explicit consent.

3.3 Professional Responsibility

  • No Replacement of Legal Judgment: AI tools are intended to assist, not replace, professional legal judgment. Lawyers remain accountable for all legal work product.

  • Limitations Acknowledgment: AI outputs may have limitations and should not be relied upon as definitive without further analysis.

4. Approved AI Tools

AnchorPoint maintains a list of pre-approved AI tools for use. These tools are vetted for:

  • Security and compliance standards.

  • Functionality and relevance to legal tasks.

  • Vendor agreements ensuring data ownership and usage restrictions.

5. Implementation and Training

  • Training: All staff will receive training on the ethical and effective use of AI tools, including understanding their capabilities and limitations.

  • Pilot Programs: New AI tools will undergo a trial period in limited practice areas before full adoption.

6. Risk Management

  • Monitoring: AI tools will be regularly audited for compliance, security, and performance.

  • Incident Response: Any breaches or failures related to AI use must be reported immediately to the Managing Member.

7. Client Communication

  • AnchorPoint will inform clients when AI tools are employed in a way that directly impacts their matters.

  • AnchorPoint will provide clear explanations of the benefits and limitations of AI use upon client request.

8. Review and Updates

This policy will be reviewed annually or as needed to reflect changes in technology, operations, regulations or AnchorPoint practices.

9. Governance

The Managing Member is responsible for overseeing the implementation and enforcement of this policy. Questions or concerns regarding this policy should be directed to the Managing Member.
